| What most flutists are looking for sound: has rich and clear sound, responsive with proper resistance and resonance, reactive in doing fast or slow vibrato, has stable intonation on playing piano and forte, has good projection, homogeneity from low to high register, plus a sound with character. I started my quest in earnest in 1995. I have talked with many professional flutists and have personally tried many varieties of flutes over the years. I have come to realize that the prescription for beautiful tone production lies not in the mere possession of a gold flute (expensive flute) but more in a well crafted head joint, richly voiced in overtones. Now, I proudly present my head joints which I hope you will love, appreciate and enjoy. May it add ease to your flute playing style and increase your range of musical expression. Only when an instrument is able to respond to what we want it to do can we say “the flute is an extension of the human voice” – as one of my teachers said.
